If your solar panels generate more electricity than you use, you can deliver electricity back to the grid. When you start delivering power, two parties need to be informed: your energy supplier and the grid operator.
The energy supplier
When you inform your energy supplier about purchasing solar panels and delivering power, they can take this into account when preparing your annual bill. You can contact your energy supplier by phone.
The grid operator
The grid operator must also be informed that you will be delivering power. The grid operator is the company that maintains the electricity grid and is responsible for reading the meter. It is important for the grid operator to know the meter reading. The grid operator may also come to install a new meter if your current meter is not suitable for power delivery.
The process for registering solar panels varies by grid operator. In general, we can handle much of the work for you by registering you at energieleveren.nl. Your grid operator may contact you to replace your electricity meter. If you have a mechanical meter, you can choose not to have it replaced.
Netting
Once your grid operator and energy supplier are properly informed, you can start delivering power back to the grid. This process is called netting. More information can be found on the page "What is netting?".
